cccccccc | Soundcheck: performed at Tullie House Carlisle, August 2004 Audio Art festival, Krakow, November 2004 I collected songs, favourite songs to sing in the shower, recorded acapella in my bathroom. For the performance, a male and a female mime along to this compilation soundtrack. As part of the audience you can see this but can't hear, until you pick up the headphones which light up in colours matching the spotlight on the singer, whose light source is their microphone. When you pick up the headphones you hear clearly the voice singing to you, no longer a mime. As you stand and listen you become aware of how public your private show is, your listening stance as visible as the singers. Then the light fades on the microphone, the singer steps back, the song is over.
